they think she is an aussie mix but not sure shes a dump off so they know nothing of her she does get along with the older kids and other dogs. I just have to be carefully because i got little kids but dh and i really miss having a dog around

She is very pretty. I would try her around your little ones, strictly supervised of course. I had a fantastic dog who loved anything from about 6 years and up. He hated small children tho and I would never have trusted him with them. He growled constantly and just wanted to get away. He was very ill when my daughter was 6 months old and we had to have him put to sleep - a blessing really because he would have hated her walking around and I would have been worried sick as she loved all animals. Good luck if you take her.

yes her eyes are blue i fell in love with the eyes but i read that if she is an aussie mix her eyes can change as she gets older. The lady thinks she is 7 months old i hope they stay blue. The bad thing is we are meeting at a halfway point so even if she acts ok with the kids there she might not be ok with them once i get home with her. Well as pretty as she is hopeful if i cant keep her someone will take her.

she looks like a purebred australian shepherd to me. Just a dillute red merle IMO.

If she's not good with small children i'd be worried. My mom got a blue merle aussy shepherd when my brother and I were just kids and he chased after me and growled and tried to bite me (esp me) any chance he got. one day he got shocked by the horse fence...and guess who he blamed it on? Me, luckily my parents were there and my dad grabbed him before he got to me and pinned him down by his throat...soon after that he ripped into our neutered aussy cattle dog and the vets had us put him down. Aussy shepherds are one person dogs everyone else is either just tollerable to them, or they really like everyone.

The BO of the the place that I board my horses at also breeds and shows Aussie Shepherds. She told me (as I also came to find out) that females tend to be more of a one person type of dog, but they expect everyone else to love them. Females also tend to have mood swings (regardless of being in heat or not). Males tend to be more social and love everyone...

(at least everyone of her dog's came out with that kind of behavior)


(I would have figured it would be the opposite...but not in this breed's case)

I have had aussie most of my life,they do tend to be a one person dog but that can be overcome by lots of socialization,take her with you everywhere you can,she is young enough to turn into a very nice dog,I have shown in breed,agility,OB,and have herding titles on my male,he is the only one I have at this time,they are great dogs but smart dogs and you need to be pack leader to keep them happy,they are great with kids,but if she doesnt know kids she probably wont like them at first,as most dogs dont.They are not the breed for everyne,but are very loyal and excellent pets if people are willing to put the time into them.
