picking a breed

I am research possible breeds and have narrowed it down to Langshan or Cochin but can't decide which I like better. what do people think about these two breeds?

I have neither breeds, but I've heard tons of good stuff about Cochins! I think Cochins are very cute.

I've had both breeds (Black Langshans and Buff Cochins) and personally prefer Cochins. The Langshans are a little better layers, but I wouldn't recommend either breed for egg production (there are lot of breeds that will far outlay either one). To me the choice here is one of beauty and personality. Langshans are stately looking and generally fairly docile, but I personally think that the Cochins are more beautiful, and perhaps more importantly, they are more gentle birds. Our children were not able to make the lap pets out of our Langshans like they did out of our Cochins.
