Picky Ducks
So I have read all your posts and seen your pictures of ducks eating spaghetti, so I thought I would try it. I had some leftovers yesterday evening and put them in their bowl. They circled the bowl, stretching their necks over to look at the contents in it. They wanted nothing to do with it. So I got some noodles and tomatoes from the bowl and they took a tomato and the quickly dropped it on the ground. Each of them had to take a turn picking it up and spitting in out. Guess they didn't like the spices that were on it. They were totally freaked out by the noodles and I had to end up throwing them in the trash. Keep in mind they LOVE tomatoes, plain.

Then I decided I'll give them some spinach and eggs. I boiled some eggs and chopped them up. (They used to love those things) Added that to the bowl and the same thing, freaked out. Ended up throwing that away. So I resorted to their favorite treats, corn niblets, cheddar cheese bites, and chopped tomatoes.

!! They are was too spoiled. But that's no ones fault but mine.

Protective Husband
As we all know, our husband usually aren't the ones who want the ducks. Mine fell right into that category, "If you want them, whatever(as he rolled his eyes)" Well 4 months later, these are the comments I have heard come from his mouth over the course of time. Also note, these comments are usually made in conversation to other people!
"Ducks are smart, I can't believe they will go in their house when it gets dark", "ducks are way better than dogs, you don't have to worry about them jumping on you and licking you", "here let me have some cheese to feed them" "ducks are great"

the winner of them all: the other day we were sitting outside feeding them cheese bits and a sparrow hawk flew down really close and spooked the ducks. my husband said, "What's a matter boys, that hawk's not going to get you", then I said, yeah he was smaller than they are, there's no way he could pick them up. husband said, "no, I would hit him in the head and kill him before I let him get you guys." Please note, the entire time he was actually talking to them not me. When I said something I referred to them but he was actually talking to them.

The husband part was funny. My husband is kinda like that about the chickens, and he loves the turkeys. He just doesn't want me telling anyone we know.

Mine thought I was crazy for wanting ducks. After 2 years of research, he relented but still thought I was nuts. Now he is the one that "tucks them in" at night

Oh yes...mine was and is the same way with both the chickens and now the ducks.

I got the "if you want them dear but they are yours" now I get the
"I am going to town do the ducks need spinach or frozen peas"

hahahaha he is grocery shopping for them now.

my ducks are also rather picky.... The tomatoes have to chopped the right way, they refused to eat green beans or lima beans.... They will only eat floating koy food in stick format, not in pellets... goodness gracious they are worse then i am!
