I processed some roosters a couple of weeks ago but I'm too embarrassed to post pics.

You all have some VERY meaty birds. My birds were not that meaty in the pic but a lot of meat in the pot.

Ooh, i forgot to mention, I was out of propane for my bbq burner and I needed to singe the hairs and small feathers after plucking. It actually set a rustic mood and I'll think I'll use the open fire again, maybe with some mesquite wood next time...

I couldn't tell ya, because I skinned the ones I ate, but the skin really is black/blue. It's definately different!

If you scald, it shouldn't be much different than plucking any other chicken. The water wets the feathers down, so they kind of look the same

They look great but I want to see a scale bar next to them...

The funny thing about this is that the pigeons are the bigger ones!

That's awesome! I actually want to cook my pork and chicken over fire in the future. I have no idea how that would be done without either burning the chicken or making it too tough though. I'll have to read up on it.

AND ATTENTION: whoever said they had pics of bird they cleaned that had a green color to its skin... WE WOULD ALL LOVE TO SEE THOSE PICTURES!

That was Illia.

I just read this entire thread...I'm finally going to do some meaties (or at least birds bought or hatched for the purpose of being meaties) this summer. I have to sweet-talk my MIL into helping me process because I'll be 8-9 months preggo by that time...and it'll be 100+ degrees outside. BUT I think it would be nice to have 10 or so in the freezer....maybe more and process them a few at a time....
