Hi!

We are getting ready to try to divide part of our coop off to put our 6 week olds out there soon...

I am coming up at a loss as to how to divide the coop so that there is plenty of room for them until they are actually "out" with the big girls.

How do you all usually go about this? I'd love to see any pictures that you can share!!

We're getting ready to try to put a divider in our coop for the new 28 chicks. Was also hoping to get some ideas from others on how to do this.

I did this with my pullets I put with the adults. I kind of had to just use materials from home but I used a few plywood sheets and chicken wire. I have a 10x20 chain link run and put the plywood sheet at the far end, dividing the 10 foot wall in half. I secured it and made sure it couldn't move at all. I picked one of the newly sectioned off sides and covered the chain link walls in plywood too so nothing could see in. For the last wall on the inside of the coop, I used chicken wire. I did this so the adults could see them and get close, but not hurt them. I set up a small shelter and a roof they could be under in case it rains or if they get cold. I put plenty of roosts in there and hanging feeders and waterers and shavings on the ground because my coop gets muddy really easily. I also set up a heat lamp to use just in case, I live in Michigan and the weather is very unpredictable.
Now that the pullets are 9 weeks old, I let them in with the hens, but not with the rooster, unsupervised. They are all getting along well and like their space :)
