Pics of my chicks. Any Roos??

my female barred rock is the same way. She and my gold laced Wyandotte are running things with my younger flock right now. The minute somebody's back is turned (and I swear they wait for it) they will run from across the run to pounce on somebody else and make them squawk. Usually each other.

I had to give a chuckle, aside from your RIR and your Orpingtons, it looks like we have a similar flock. I also have a BR, a Buckeye and a Wyandotte.
Lol, that's awesome! The RIR was thrown in for free but other than that I researched the breeds for friendly, docile birds that lay a large number of eggs. I guess they were wrong about the Plymouth Rocks, lol. They do rule the roost but honestly all my birds get along pretty well, very minor pecking with each other & I see no evidence that the Rocks keep anyone from eating. I've read some stories on here that the alpha won't let someone eat. I'll just do the best I can with the aggression.

Oh, don't get me wrong! Of my younger flock, my BR is the most docile. She doesn't mind being picked up and held by my kids, she's starting to enjoy being scratched on the back of her neck (like my cockatiels did years ago LOL) A lot of it has to do with the individual personality of the bird.
