Wow those are nice pigs. Didn't know there were haired pigs, pretty.
Went and read a bit about them. Yours look like they have really thick nice fur..

Oh, boy. I stumbled across this thread and now I'm surfing Kune Kune websites.

My husband is going to regret this.

May I ask, what is a reasonable price for breeding stock? And where did you get yours?

Yeah I saw them when I was high school and fell in love... bigger hogs seem scary to mean (even though I grew up with them) but these don't get over 260 (if they do they are just fat) they don't root like other pigs (their lil noses don't let them) and they are big grazers (save lots on feed)!!! Not to mention they are soooo tame and friendly its crazy lol
I bought mine in Advance Mo (just a few hours from my house) and I paid... 500$ each

... now that may seem like a lot but mine are registered high quality breeding stock and gilts at that soo... I don't let it bother me I mean I will have piglets and my two lil sows so I'm happy. Plus he is so close (the next closes breeder I could find was out of state) he is even letting me use his boar to service my gilts (we may trade feed for his service). He actually came down from 800$ a piece so I'm not complaining! He didn’t have any grass for them to graze so he had to buy feed for them which is not cheap at all… He had to buy his breeding stock from Pennsylvania and Texas and drive all the way to get them… a lot of work compared to how fare the drive was for us. His boar is a beautiful example of the Te Whangi blood line and my girls come from the Jenny, Rona Sow line! (very nice blood lines in Kune Kune breeding) so I can understand how letting them go for anything less would have been painful.
I don’t plan on selling mine for that much though as the only money I’ve spent on them is that first 1000$. We don’t need to buy feed as we have plenty of grass and good hay on our place (that’s all these pigs need) and we give them our left overs… we are going to butcher most of the piglets my girls have every year maybe selling a few pigs idk yet we may just sell the pork and not bother with the live animals… we will see…
