Picture of one of our babies first egg.

Thanks Tammy! The new egg is from one of our Speckled Sussex and the egg on the left is from our Rhode Island Red. She lays incredible eggs. I don't have any Brahmas although I would have one in a minute. In fact...I am trying really hard to figure out if I want a wonderful mixed flock or if I want to get 10 or so of another breed, rehome our three older girls and our Patridge Rocks and keep to just 2 breeds. Such a tough choice

I have a variety of breeds.....my original flock that I started 2 years ago is a mixture of them.. lol. I remember being at the farm store and saying, "I'll take one of these and one of these....oh! two of these please and one of these....." You get the picture... went in for 12 and ended up with 24... this was me

2 years later my 'brood' consists of 5-RIR, 3-Speckled Sussex, 2-Black Sex Link, 2-Australorp, 5-Golden Laced Wyondette, 2-Silver Laced Wyondette, 6-Light Brahma, 7-Easter Egger, 2-New Hampshire, 1-Cochin Roo, 1-Silkie, 1-Polish, 4-Cuckoo Marans, 3-Barred Rock, 2-Black Sex Link/Cochin Mix, 1- Australorp/Cochin Mix, 1 Comet/Cochin Mix, 1-Light Brown Leghorn, 5- Golden Comets, 2-German Spitzhauben Roo/Pullet, 1-Spanish Black Bantam, 1- Buff Orpington, 3-Austra White, 3 Delaware

There should be around 65 chickens or so....lol.... I need more self control I believe....

Yikes...lol

The new breeds I haven't had before are the RIR's, Speckled Sussex, Silver Laced Wyondettes, New Hampshires, Silkie, Polish, Cuckoo Marans, Buff Orpington, German Spithauben, Austra White and Delaware.... so I have no clue what the eggs will look like.

What color would you say that Sussex egg is? An off white-ish color?

I do believe the little gumball size egg I got last week might be that of the RIR because it looks like the one you have.....

My new gals should start laying soon.....got them on April 6th so it's getting close to that time of finding new suprises in the nests...always eggciting indeed.

Aren't chickens fun? lol...

Thanks for sharing!
