Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

You take such good, different, and interesting pics of Ravioli. I just crack up at her name. 4 out of 5 of our Silkies have Japanese names. It's never been clear to us whether Silkies originated in China or Japan so we arbitrarily chose giving them Japanese names.

Thank you!!! I take wayyy too many pictures of Ravioli. If I could secretly have a favorite chicken, she *might* be it  She’s just so friendly!

Wow your silkies are beautiful! I LOVE SUZU!! Do they routinely come inside your house to visit? If so, you’re living my dream. I’ve always wanted to have a few silkies but I worry it is too cold here. Are you somewhere warm?

All beautiful! Suzu makes me think of cats and their love of sitting in defined spaces 😂. Keiko looks like a high class model all dressed in designer feathers...what a pretty baby ♥️!

Yes, we have favorite hens too but we don't tell the others :lau!!!

After retiring we've cycled thru 25 birds in 13 years of backyarding with different chicken breeds. Now in our twilight years we are dwindling down to ALL Silkies cuz they are easier to handle.

The only standard hen we have left is a Dominique who at 6-1/2 yrs is still laying an egg a week. We keep her around cuz she's very nice to our littles.

DANA the Dominique with VIOLET the Silkie. Violet was our alpha hen till she passed at 11 yrs old and now Dana is our alpha hen.

And, yes, thru the years our girls are frequent kitchen indoor visitors. So Calif is a mild climate and only an occasional rainy cold day has us bring the birds inside for the whole day.

I hope Ravioli makes POW one day! I love following your great pics of her!
