Band of brothers - my rooster flock

View attachment 4004955
I like to see boys like these out and about together without constant fighting. I have 7 boys now that I'm keeping just to watch for the beauty of it. I can keep 7 beautiful roosters for less than a small dog when they free range and don't use much feed.

Shoutout to @Fluster Cluck Acres! Your photo crushed it as POW and is now the star of our homepage! 👏🌟
Not an entry for POW, but here’s Bonnie Tyler watching the sunrise with me last weekend. She’s a little big to fit inside her chair roost these days. 😂

With our great new homepage for BYC, we've also now got an exciting new system and process for our Picture Of The Week (POW), so we need your submissions!!!

Your Submissions MUST:
  • Be an image you took & own the rights to
  • Be a sharp, clean, picture that's at least 800 pixels wide
  • Include a short sentence about your picture, e.g., "My overly friendly Buff Orpington named Alehendra"
  • We prefer "landscape" (sideways) photos, but we'll accept really awesome"portrait"(tall) pictures... we just may need to crop them
Submit your POW by simply replying to this thread and attaching an image :)

We don't have a strict process or time-frame for how/when the POWs are posted, but in general they will be posted to the homepage weekly, and clicking on the POW will bring you to the post within this thread where the image was submitted.

The fun thing is that, the older roosters treat the 2 young cockerels as babies. When I hand feed them, the roosters usually let the cockerels eat first, then get the food from my hand after the cockerels are full.

My Australorp rooster also does the food call when he finds treats and let the barred rock cockerel eat.

I am not sure whether this is because when I integrated the two 3-4 months old cockerels, there were only two roosters (I had a small rooster flock to start with, and rehome birds whenever I could, usually the pure breed, nicely patterned/laced ones). The two roosters were sometimes alone at farm, couple of days at a time. So they welcome companies.

There are still mock fights amongst them, but not serious and my birds mostly don't want to get hurt.

I keep a rooster flock because I have raised them from chicks and don't want them dead.

Exactly.
