The funny part is that she cost $45 and was a last minute add on to my chick order. Too expensive to be a mutt, so I am going to agree on the designer chicken label!

She is now a $100 chicken after her trip to vet to get stitched up.

Ummmmmm, that's $150 cheaper than having a wing amputated... That was my experience last year with the vet.

Honestly, I was willing to pay whatever it took to save her. I still have no idea what she got caught on. The vet said she had never heard of a rooster mating and causing so much damage. She thought a hawk tried to grab her, but there is no way one could have gotten into the run/coop.

It just boggles my mind at how cruel people can be. Thank you for rescuing chickens!

Much cruelty is due to poverty or mental illness; I try not to judge, just do what I can. I have happy chickens! Developing countries have shown me this...ew...

Delilah is a mixed breed bantam pullet who hatched chicks high up in a tree (which then needed to be rescued).
