@ChicksnMore -- Years ago we came close to getting Olandsk's. Really gorgeous delightful little birds. Please post more Olandsk pics so I can see what I've been missing all these years!

In the end we settled on Silkies that can't fly out of their free-range yard. Our one old Dominique pals around with them.

Hard to beat silkies for pure adorableness! Love your blue lady...the way she's sitting in the tomato cage reminds me of kitties .
I really enjoy the dwarfs. Love their little size, their changing colors, egg laying and just everything. Perfect chickens in my eyes .

This ones a boy I gave away...the lady kindly shared pictures as he grew

Speaking of snuggle chickens, we lost Mabel yesterday. She was the ultimate snuggle chicken here at our place. I posted the "chicken scarf" picture of her here recently. I swear she was more puppy than chicken most days. I'm pretty wrecked losing her. She always knew when someone needed a snuggle, even if they didn't know.

@ChicksnMore - TY for the Olandsk pics -- keep 'em coming since you take such good photos The Olandsk patterns remind me of Swedish Flower Hens - mostly enough variety to ID them at a glance from the feather colors. So cute!

Yes, IMO all the bantam breeds are sweeties. If an owner can resign themselves to bantam broodiness, bantams make the best flocks. Since our Silkies are on the larger bantam scale their eggs are a fairly decent size too.

My sister made me chuckle when I told her we had a Breda pullet. She said, "Breda -- what a pretty name you gave her." I said, "No.... Breda is a chicken breed. Phaedra is her name."

CUCKOO BREDA PULLET-- "CHAR" -- look at those impressive vulture hocks, feathered legs, pointed triangle crest, tall statuesque stance (visitors confused Char as a Dominique)

A MATURE "CHAR" -- scratching around outdoors broke off most of her leg/toe feathers

CHAR became a hefty girl and weighed 7 lbs bullying the 2-lb Silkies so we sadly re-homed her.

Beautiful eggs! I absolutely agree on bantams. My dwarfs and OEGB lay amazingly huge eggs for their body size! They're still small eggs ...but I find it amazing . Their eggs are the perfect size for me.

Beautiful eggs! I absolutely agree on bantams. My dwarfs and OEGB lay amazingly huge eggs for their body size! They're still small eggs ...but I find it amazing . Their eggs are the perfect size for me.

The mix breed bantams lay wonderfully here. The egg white is smaller, but the yolk is slightly bigger, in comparison to a Large Fowl egg. Sometimes I do notice a slightly more rich taste in the mix breed bantam eggs. The serama are a different story. Their eggs are miniscule!

Neither have I. They look and sound like amazing birds. Something about their stature, build, and appearance makes them look out of this world
