Backyard mixes... Dad was a light Brahma, Mom is a Rhode Island Red. (Pic of Mom and dad attached)Outstandingly gorgeous! What type are they?
As an FYI, our township just passed a chicken's ordinance banning roosters, and these boys didn't make the age cutoff to get grandfathered in. I might be able to turn one of them into a house rooster, (they are total snuggle babies) but at least one of these boys will need a new home if anyone is interested, PLEASE reach out. We're in Ambler, PA.Nila and Noli posing in front of the bay window:
What's the grandfathered age & how would the township know their age? That's what I keep telling my husband! After reading this ordinance, I highly doubt anyone on the board has ever seen a chicken... Let alone raised one. So, I sincerely doubt they'll be able to tell me how old they are. What's the grandfathered age & how would the township know their age? They are so darn gorgeous!

To be grandfathered in, they would have had to be born before the ordinance went into effect. This would have been February 18th 2024. These boys were born end of May.
Arguably, we do have five roosters in our suburban yard at the moment. The township just sent us a $500 fine. I'll be calling them Monday to argue the point. Wish me luck!
(And they are even prettier in person! Their dad, Willow, was the sweetest rooster I have ever met. I miss him terribly. I don't want to lose his boys too.)
What breed is the grey chicken at the front of the photo? I have one that looks just like that. I bought it in a group of what were supposed to be Ameracuanas. But she does not lay blue eggs. I think she lays a medium dark brown. She is also has a very different personality as the confirmed Ameracuna that I bought at the same time. Thanks
