That's a great idea. Very good points. I have been researching on here homade incubators and lock down cabinets. Something in the large scale size.
Quote:
When you lockdown multiple hatches in the same Bator( meaning hatching on different days) you need to resist the urge to remove your chicks as they hatch.
Try to wait and remove them say one time a day. The humidity will drop greatly everytime you open the bator.
This can increase the chance of shrink wrapped chicks.
The chicks can actually stay in the bator for At least 24 hour with no I'll effect.
They will kick the unhatched eggs around but this has never caused a problem that I can tell.
We set 8 eggs on the 24th and have been adding 2 a day since then. This will be the first time that we have done a continual type incubation. I have three bators and plan to use one for incubation and two for lockdown. The two lockdown will only have two consecutive days worth of eggs each. This If it works out right should allow them to hatch over a 24 hour period and be done as the ones in the second lockdown bator begin to hatch. Then remove chicks and clean first lockdown bator for next group .Rotating bators so to speak.
