More pictures!! It just kills me when they look at me and turn their head to the side.

and I had to post this one because it made me laugh....

Also, I changed their water set-up but I think I'll need to make another one with the openings a little higher. But I have SO many of these empty coffee containers that it is nice to put them to use. My husband hates me tossing them, but he only has soo many bolts and screws to store! :)

These pine chips were much smaller than I had wanted to use, but they absorb the poop at least. I've been adding a little more each day and the house doesn't smell anymore! I'm thinking I might need to bring a shop vac and vacuum it all up. But I think they will only be in here another week and a half (if my husband gets their house built) so I might just scoop some out. It does make them sneeze for a few minutes after I add more on top, so they would need to be in the tub while I'm doing it.

They can actually fit inside the container holding the food, but they only do if one is startled and happens to be eating at the time, and they can get back out really easy. But, it has kept them from laying and pooping in the food.

Look what I found this morning! Tater, the duckling that's bill color had me obsessing over gender, now has a lighter bill than Tot. It's so hard to understand how quickly they change until you see it for yourself! Lol. In a week, they've gone from this:
400

To this:
400

They also love their generously donated minecraft creeper buddy. Hee hee

2 quick questions. 1- what's with the eating of a dry shaving here and there? If I saw them eat one, I know they're eating at least a few when I'm not there! Am I missing something in their diet? Hubby and I have tons of small and large animal experience, just not with poultry. We're feeding a game bird/show bird chick starter (non-medicated) and they always have plenty of food and water. We're keeping their brooding box clean. They got out and play, eating whatever Rollie pollies I can find. Got a worm yesterday. SCORE! Anyhoo! My experience tells me they're lacking something, even though the feed has a niacin suppliment in it. Seems like that's always the obvious answer.... Suggestions?

2- They hatched on March 22 so they're 11 days old today. Their grow light is keeping the temp at 85*. We had to move it farther away last night because Tater was panting. I sat with them for about 30-45min to be sure it was just the heat being too high. They're fine today, but the thermometer reads 3week temp, 80*. I'm thinking each duckling is diff. Tot's good with it and they aren't huddling, so I'm just rolling with it. (I had taken their light away so I could get a pic, so don't let that throw you.) Seems like body language is the indicator I should use. Correct? I'll post a pic of their food.

Hi guys! Haven't posted in awhile, these guys have been keeping me buusy! They have really outgrown their current brooder, and I am really hoping we can move them outside to their house this weekend. Here are some more pictures! :) These were taken last Wednesday on their first excursion outside.

Here they are today. So many new feathers coming in, and I just LOVE all the little details!

I can definitely tell the difference between Goldie's Gold phase coloring and the other's silver phasing now. At first I wondered if I had more than one gold phase, but none are as obvious as she is! :)
