Hi All.

I have a black Cochin hen where it seems like the tissue around the eye is swollen. I have pictures below. One picture of her swollen eye, and one of her good eye. Does anyone know what this is?

Is she breathing heavy?
Is she lethargic?
Has she been eating (full crop)?
The other chickens foamy eye could be CRD (chronic respiratory disease).
When did you introduce her to the flock?

Not breathing heavy, not lethargic, been eating and acting completely normal, and I introduced her about 2 weeks ago.

As far as CRD, before I start looking it up, is there anywhere you know of that has good info on it?

For the cochin, she doesn't seem to be too irritated or in pain by the eye. Not scratching at it or anything, I just am curious to know what exactly it is, and if it is something I should look into treating. Just love my girls so much!

Also, in regards to the other hen with the foamy eye I did actually bring her to the vet about 9 months ago when I noticed her eye getting more foamy and wet. $275 later, and after many eye smears and tests, they prescribed me terramycin eye ointment. Didn't really help much. She has been fine, but just doesn't seem to want to heal completely.
