thanks for the advice about the fabric color blocks and numbers. Here we have only prepackaged stuff, but I am interested in the fat quarters. I will look tomorrow at some of the stuff before the clearance is all gone!

The fat quarts I've gotten at Walmart are pretty nice. Not the cheap $1 stuff they used to carry on their bargin shelf. One of our Walmart has fabric, one took it out and it's suppose to come back. Who knows. The stuff on the main display rack is usually pretty good stuff. Some of it is really mass produced and you can find the stuff year after year. They have seasonal stuff that is usually pretty good too. We have MaryJo's. If MaryJo's doesn't have it, it's not been made, lol

I thought the forum was all about chickens until recently i came across the hobby index. I have been following this thread I am so inspired to get back to my unfinished quilt projects. I am so happy that I do not need to go to different web sites to share my interest with other. I am loving BYC more and more! i could not help my self in posting a quilt that I did for my son 3 years back!

Thank you, he is no longer a baby but he still loves that blanket. I think it is the color combo and the animals.

I saw the thread about the frugal quilt block and I would have jumped in, but I am so busy May to December. I wish I would have noticed the hobby index back in January. looking at the photos on here I am getting so inspired to try to find 15-20 here and there to finish my daughters quilt. The facing is all done I just need to put it all together.

I went to an Auction this afternoon and I could not beleive it. Quilts were going for $10.00 to $35.00. It makes me wonder why we do all the work to do these and when we are gone they will be sold so cheap. I did get a nice box with a lot of stuff in it. I'm going to take some pice tomorrow and show you. I paid $22.50 for it and after I got it some man came up to me and said, do you want to sell that oil can in it? I said I didn't know there was one in there. I looked and said no I don't think so. It's a very old can with Singer on it I think it's for oiling your sewing machine. I was wondering why 2 men were biding against me. lol

I stopped giving away my crocheted afghans after my SIL used a queen sized one for her dogs to sleep on outside in their dog house! Why? The colors no longer matched the paint in their new house!

It's a shame JC & Gin. I would love to get my hands on some of those old quilt tops. There is a wonderful book "A People and Their Quilts" which tell the stories of people from the Appalachian Mts. through their quilts. People are amazed to learn that men actually make quilts. I'm not talking "fabric/fiber artists", I'm talking good ol' downhome boys who quilt. I know our quilting buddy, ChevyBeth, had a bunch of guys jump in and help HAND quilt a special quilt for Rosie's Mom after Rosie passed suddenly from her battle with cancer. Those guys were there night after night helping out until that quilt was finished! My Lurchie is getting good at putting colors and patterns together. (As long as he doesn't critique my work he's fine, lol)

I'm amazed about how little people are willing to pay for a handmade quilt. I admit it, even my own Mom made me take a step back. Finding Time, cost of fabric and batting. For 2 quilts 45x60 (one was the hot air balloon quilt) she sent me $60 It costs more of a crib quilt at Wally World than that!! She really ticked me off when she made a comment about it not being a "baby" quilt but one for an older child.
