He's a go to work come home and mow the grass sit on the chair kind of guy, but I love him. He always says I do a good job so I don't complain.

ginbart. I will take some pics of dd black and white pinwheels. She has decided to put psychedelic colored mushrooms on them lol and cut out a bunch the other day. This will be interesting!

redwing I love the colors in that baby quilt. Is that a type of log cabin style block? That's a really nice 1st quilt!

My dh has never quilted anything but when I was expecting our first baby, someone had given me a few cross stitch baby blanket kits. He actually did a little bit of the cross stitching on one of them lol. Then his grandma told me that he liked to crochet when he was a little boy. He tried to deny it but I believe her LOL! Our youngest son liked to crochet too when he was little. I never did get the hang of knitting so couldn't teach that to my kids. Every winter I say I'm gonna learn to knit but still haven't done it.

I agree with that. Alot of people think that the quilts people hand sew should be as cheap as what you find at the store. Or...they think gee they must not have anything better to do with thier time. I've gotten that comment before (this from a family member who spends most all of her free time on the couch just watching tv!) I think some people just have doing hobbies and some just have watching hobbies lol.
Anyhow my immediate family and friends usually appreciate quilts or other handmade things. Its the extended family that seems not to so I'm not giving them anymore lol.

I bought the fabric for the black, red, and white chicken quilt, but my aunt charged me $40 to sew it. I didn't argue. I don't applique!

My mom makes quilts all the time for my SIL and her two girls. She has never made one for me or my children

I would actually appreciate them!

Sad news for me: we had a wicked storm yesterday (we got stuck in walmart with the sirens blaring). The temperature dropped from high 90's to low 70's. The fan was still on in the brooder coop. We came home and three of our chicks were smothered

A maran, a BO, and my son's favorite chick (an EE named Phyllis Diller). My son cried himself to sleep and I feel so bad. I don't know if the thunder, lightning, and hail caused them to dogpile or the cold.

Beautiful quilts everyone!

Sorry to hear about your chicks....and for your son to loose his favorite...so sad.

You might mention to your mom that you would like something she has made to pass on to your children. She may think that since you quilt you might not "need" one of hers.

Please tell your son I'm so sorry to hear about his chick.
My son's rabbit got out yesterday and now we can't get him. I'm hoping the hawks don't get him.

I don't know about your mom but if my mom was alive I would say, Mom my children love the quilt you made for ______ and they would love to have one like that from their Grammy or Gramma. hint hint

Do you live close to each other? If you do we are working on blocks here and maybe you and her could work with us. Here's the thread.

We aren't close to each other. I have been thinking about signing up (I guess time is running out!).
