Beautiful pigeons.. He is just across the lake from me in Michigan.
My first set of white pigeons were from a person from Dwight Ill. (approximate) Those were a good bloodline that kept returning. Unfortunate for the raccoon encounter that put an end to them.
He easily had over 100 birds. I never thought of taking a pix then.
When I contacted him a couple years ago, he informed me he got out of pigeons. He was kind enough to give me the new owner of his flock. A young, motivated pigeon fancier. Do have his name and number for when I will need some more replacement in the near. A good bloodline is important if you want them to return. If Hokum Coco lived closer to me I would purchase some of his Belgium bloodline. The batch after that one were mutts mixed with ??? and were useless at returning. They were PRETTY BTW.
Way back in time (30+ years) before I had pigeons, but was hanging around those that did, they all had their secret tricks up their sleeve.
One person was raising Racers and was incorporating Feral stock into his flock. He did OK although he was not the Top Earner in the PURSE.
Feral does not automatically mean BAD. The good genes nobody knows where they are hidden.
If I was not looking for WHITE DOVES , I would simply get a batch of ferals from under a bridge and give them a home. Feed and treat them WELL and have their of-springs. Afterwards, set them free.
I have no quarrel with FERAL.
Look at my Avatar and you will see ALL feral cats there. I take good care of them and they in return LUV me. (all fixed BTW)
I took the 23 and Me DNA analysis, and turns out I'm not a thoroughbred. I am a total mixture, which makes me a FERAL.
BTW 2.6% Neanderthal,,,,,, which may explain why I like spelunking so much. Have explored these and others.
These are from Onondaga cave in Missouri. No pigeons in here but plenty of murciélagos.
