How is doba doing?

She seems ok regarding the neck scalping, its dry and clean. There are a few feathers I could probably trim off when I have a helper. She has been bright eyed and alert, eating and drinking...preening in which she stretches and twists the neck so I think its not painful. pic is from day one

It didnt seem to help to have her mate caged beside her so he is back in the loft with his other wife. Until she gets some feathers back I'm afraid to put her back in the loft. I have no idea how long this might take. Trying to decide between letting her occupy the time out cage in the loft or setting up a larger - 2x3 ft kennel indoors.

In cases like this I really wish my loft was bigger to give me more flexibility but with the flight pen it occupies all the space available to me.

on a lighter note...

I'm glad she is doing ok.

My heart skips a little beat when I see them flying like that.
(It's still scary for me.)

I can't stop grinning when I watch them fly! They are safest when flying in a group. I worry when they are in the street getting grit. Some cars slow and stop for them and they don't want to move. Another car came thru and didn't slow down - the 2 birds flew out of the way at the last minute!

:barnie Sweep them up some street grit and move it to the sidewalk!
