Ok...what is a racing pigeon?
:confused::oops:
To over simplify... Owners of homing pigeons organize races of one to six hundred miles and compete against each others birds for the fasted MPH time to return to the loft. Racing Homers fill the same niche in the world of pigeons as Thoroughbred horses do in the equine world.

Great story Scott - thanks. I like to hear of lady racers - your DW sounds cool!

Do you fly your birds very much?

I sold my birds at flock swaps local.
After I lost one of my 3 brown bar birds to a raptor, they don't get any free flight time.
Working on a 6 by 8 by 8 flight pen that's enclosed.

Are Browns the least common color? I know it's the most recessive? And for color cockbirds have 2 alleles and hens just one. Do you have both genders?
Sounds like a great flight pen, ¿Pics pls when it´s done?

ETA If you mate a brown cock with any other color hen, are the offspring brown = hen, any other color = cock?? Since pigeons are so hard to sex, color sexing interests me.

I have a solid Tan (light brown, not red, sand colored) hen, She has not had any get even close to her color.
I am getting Brown Bar's, Brown Checker's and, even a Blue Bar with Brown Flights. I lost her first mate, have to look again at her new one.
I was hopping that somebody here knows more then I do about color.
