Pigeon Bulletin Board?

Pics
Update time.
Continuing to release birds in the morning around 7:30ish before feeding. They are not very hungry bc the is leftover food, mostly wheat from prev day. Then I put fresh feed out around 10ish and call them. Some are already back in by this time, a few are responding to the food call and a few straggle in later. A week ago I had one YB stay out overnight and reappear next morning... I decided to let the parent original birds out if they want also - so far they are returning to their babies or eggs. I let some out again in the pm also.

I now put the bath pans outside the loft/aviary, which eliminates some mess.

They are venturing a little further but not out of sight yet. A little bit of naughty, feral like behavior - hanging on my car, then in the road!:barnie

That's great! It also explains the poop on your windscreen!:lol:

How many birds are in this photo?

I can't figure it out for the life of me.
I'm thinking 3. Am I close?

Thanks for cropping and pointing that out. She is 'breaking' with wings and tail both to land - look at that athletic body! She is a real robust birdy.
Pure luck that shot. I wouldn't have thought my camera could do that.

Ash-red check Mom is sitting on 2 eggs again and this time dad is taking a turn so I'm letting them do it bc of the sex-link color in chicks.
These are the results @ around 2 wks old. The redcheck will be a cock and the blue is a hen.

Is it possible that a kitty kat may have been around looking for imitation Friskies and figured this one would do??? :idunno
This is possible,i suspect some kind of misadventure or foul play...i don't think she flew away.

I started setting mine out even earlier than you. They were still being fed by

I am now letting everybody out that wants out. The youngsters seem to know when they are ready. One little guy hatched Jun 11 is already up on the big roof with the rest of the gang while his nest mate stayed in the loft.

I took off the settling cage for now since a few of the birds seemed to not get through it to the trap easily. So the ybs come out on the landing board and decide when they are ready to venture further. Meanwhile they watch the others. eta- The first place they go is a few feet away to the area i use to set out bath pans now. see photo next post

I am happy to see several of my birds really flying now and relieved they are avoiding the many overhead wires in the area. The red hen and her mate like to fly by themselves and I can see them learning to get more and more control of their flying. All are making good use of our oversized roof.
