Pigeon care basics? What are basic pigeon housing requirements?

How is it going? Do you have a loft?
There was a close call with a hawk the other day...inspired friend's parents to get moving on a loft. I"m not at home (staying with family this week) but I'll be getting back on Sunday and will post a better update then.

Also, i recommend getting one companion for your bird once the loft is built, and then no more, and don't allow them to breed. you see, once a pair has had its own loft they think it's theirs and will fight and fight if another bird is added, sometimes even if it's the pairs own baby.
You don't need to have a companion, it will be fine alone. Also if you want to keep the pigeon inside the house you can purchase a large bird cage. You can find cheaper ones for sale at a bird and parrot rescue. If you have a rescue by you. Otherwise look online for someone selling theirs. We have a parrot rescue by us that sells them for so much cheaper than buying them from store and a lot of them are gently used. Then you can put nesting bowl in there with some toys and then you can take the pigeon out and interact with it when you are home. This way the pigeon and you can get used to each other. This is just another option. But I know for a fact you definitely don't need a companion. I know a lot of animals do especially chickens. But pigeons do fine with or without.
