Pigeon feed

I emptied the bag with the first one and underneath was it's name! Just where it should be, nice and visible! It's called 'super mix' and i can get it from the pigeon place I found for about £8 a 20kg sack. I'll let the chickens finish the other stuff! As part of a fully balanced diet of course:oops:!
They don't seem to want any corn as it's all left in the bottom of the feed tray.

I agree that # 1 is by far the best. I don't like cracked corn as it tends to mold in high humidity. When training birds to trap in fast I would feed wheat for several days so that they were hungry and have a high quality feed in the loft as I called them in after a flight. They soon learn that the good stuff awaits them in the loft.

Another vote for feed mix #1. The others appear to lack peas, a pigeon STAPLE for both taste and nutrition. I believe the mix I feed, which is exclusively made for pigeons, is a mix of vetch peas, maple peas, pop corn, milo/millet and I think buckwheat. In the winter I supplement the mix with more corn for very cold temps.

I know my pigeons like peas from the feed I give them, but if they are "staple" how do the pigeons get them in the wild? There are not pea plants growing around wild all over the place.

Or do you mean they are staple for the tamed pigeons?

Same comment about the meal worms. The pigeons won't care for that.
