Pigeon legs

My brother in law found this bird on the floor in his barn. The nest was too high up to put the bird back.
Is this leg curable at this stage still?
I’ve put elastic around it, would this be tight enough?
His one leg looks a bit swollen, too.

I personally approached the problem in the same manner as you only difference the elastic I was using was extremely thin. It was cutting off circulation to the foot so I thread the elastic through 2 zip ties attached to both legs. Every case is different depending on when the problem is caught.

Some fanciers have left the elastic shackles on for life.

Ah, zip ties, I guess that’ll work, too!
I’ll see if this stays on, otherwise I’ll go down that route.
It was just walking around with this on, so it seems to work for the little thing.
