Pigeon Loft Designs

Hey,

I just need to get some ideas on pigeon loft designs with either flight doors or Spitnik traps on them.

Im getting 3 pairs of homing pigeons that I am going to raise strictly for "Communique" between me in Rock Hill,sc and a friend in Pelion,Sc. He is also getting the same pairs to resend communique betwix us.

Pics and design sizes will be greatly satisfying.

Here is my best advise.
1. Lots of direct sun shine that can shine in the loft. Sun shine gives vitamin D. And kills bacteria. And fells good for the birds.
2. Face the loft south to protect for the North wind.
3. Build a structure that will stay dry. With pigeons a wet loft is the worst. It breeds bacteria and is generally unhealthy. You will have sick birds with a wet loft.
4. Good protection from things that want to eat them.
5. A little area for each pair to chose and call there own. ( Groups of nest boxes in different places)

As far as housing goes that's really all they need. The shape or design dose mater that much as long as it meets these goals.
