pigeon pair question

is it true that if you keep pigeons together that they will pair and stay a pair, reason is i have a bonded pair of capuchines and 4 young rollers, i want to house them together but i don't want them to cross breed, thanks for the info!

Yep! When pairs mate up, they stay mated up until we repair them or something happens to their mate and they find a new one themselves.
However! Sometimes cocky males will show off to all the hens and chase them around just because he can....and if the other hens just happen to be ready to mate and are receptive....he just might mate with her. So crossing can happen in a loft full of mated pairs. Sometimes males are just too dominant and full of themselves and sometimes the hens are just too desperate

It's not a common thing really though, so you shouldn't have any problems. I'm just saying it can happen, and has happened. That's why people who breed their birds for competition like to breed in individual pens/cages so that it is guaranteed the babies are out of that pair and ONLY that pair.

Out of the 8 years that I've raised pigeons, I've only had accidental matings like that happen 2 times. One of those times luckily the other male only got the hen with one of her eggs - the other baby was pure.
