Pigeon Talk

Discovered a female YT Chanel documenting her first racing pigeon loft. It's huge to me for a first loft, but she's in UK and they take pigeon racing very seriously. Because of the Covid I believe racing was paused so she is uploading a lot.

When I saw the vid of her first time banding I thought of my friend @cavemanrich ! :D
What a starter loft! Wow! She may be neighbors with @CCUK

My best pictures of Kiwi and Peach!

Has to be one of the largest OLR s in US!
Wow! It looks like it could be in Florida. Perhaps the peach or flamingo classic?

What grit do y'all like better, red grit or crushed granite? I'm due to get a new bag, but not sure which to get. what's the difference? The crushed granite is half the orice, so I'm very tempted to get it, but haven't heard much about it. any thoughts?

I just bought a huge, 55#, bag of natural Redstone grit and paid a fortune for shipping. Hope it will last a lifetime. I am not at all sure its any better than crushed granite but my birds like it and I'm a sucker. Lol I think @Old_Strain_Lover said he uses the granite?

I purchased a bag of the red grit looooooong ago. (stuff lasts) Now being pigeon-less at present, I give/mix it to to my cracked oyster shells for my chickens free-choice.
My understanding is,,, it is a manufactured product with added minerals to enhance the product. I read the label and the list of mineral percentages on that label. That is reason I chose it. To provide trace amounts of whatever minerals that would benefit pigeons' health.
I think crushed granite is basic ROCK, used as a grinding stone in gizzard. That is fine also, but I don't think there is much minerals available from it.
BP.. I know you are heavy duty into research. :thumbsup What have you found???
