I think nest making ability comes down to individual pigeons and the availability of nest materials. There was an image circulating years ago of a pigeon in a bad area that had lined its nest with used needles… others use poppies in cathedrals. Domestic pigeons tend to make decent ones, especially with a nest box/bowl and nesting material.

My pigeon fact contribution is that pigeons are among a relatively small number of birds that fly vertically right off the ground. Not to the extent that say a hummingbird could, but still pretty impressive. They can also do 0-60 mph in just a few seconds.

Pretty amazing! That skeleton is so cool.

I had a pair of parlor rollers a few years ago and took a slow motion video of the male flapping his wings.
