Ok, that's normal about the eyes closing when you held him. High five to you for helping this bird! When he is walking around has he stuck his neck out at all?

I thought that the Newcastle was confined to southern California.

Yes he stuck out his neck when I was holding him. I just went to check and give him water. I think he is doing better. He put his wings out like he wants to fly away now. My barn cats are fierce hunters so I don’t want him eaten. I checked him over. No injury that I can see, checked his mouth no lesions. That ain’t no chicken mouth! Wow. His feet and legs are red. He is very pretty.

Well it is for now but every show is cancelled and rooster fighting people don’t care. They could bring it up here easy.

They might have a case up in humbolt county. I just don’t know if pigeons can get it.

I have heard of the Newcastle outbreak in CA, understandable you would be concerned. Probably best to keep him away from your birds and wash up after caring for him.

Glad to hear he seems better. Nice bright pink feet are a good sign, as well as that he is moving about and not just sittinf fluffed up - as you know from other birds you keep I'm sure! Don't keep him to long or he will steal your heart.

If you contacted the NPA they should get in touch with the owner, let us know what happens. I guess its a 2012 bird by the band, so not a youngster.

Is this a pigeon? Just found it walking around on the road in front of my house. It’s neck is sunk back into its body..
