I just cleaned out the cage and threw everything away, sorry for no pictures. The poop is pretty solid but very green. It was dark and normally formed before the attack, I think stress and not eating is making her poop worse.are there any pictures of this pigeons poop?
I hadn't considered that. She can straighten her neck out normally as far as I can tell when its "busy" i.e. if she tries to preen her breast feathers or if she goes to throw up, but when at rest her head and neck go back to tilting. I had been dipping her beak into water and having her sip it but today she actually reached forward and took a big long sip by herself out of the warm water I thawed the peas in, so hopefully that is a good sign.Could she have an obstruction in the throat? With her neck being twisted could that be preventing food going down? Has she drank any water?
Very good point, I just assumed I was being vomited up from the crop.
When I feed her I can see some of the peas move into her crop, so I know her plumbing works up until there, I'm not sure if the food's actually reaching her stomach. Is there anywhere I could get the tube to feed her that's not online?the twisted neck makes me wonder if the hawk damaged her esophagus. That would make it hard to swallow. That's where tube feeding would be beneficial.
I've been putting her in her mouth at the back of her tongue and she's been swallowing them with apparent ease.
Not at all, I appreciate any input.@Qwerty3159 are you getting tired of these tags?! I would defrost the peas in warm water, and then open her beak and place it in there. Make sure it goes down and doesn't block breathing. This provides hydration and food. Do 5-10 if she is getting them down well.
I had been defrosting them in warm water and dipping her beak but today she took a sip from it by herself. I prepared a "hydration solution" I found online and thawed the peas in that so I guess it was lucky that she sipped from that.
Edit: Not sure if I said it or not but I fed her again this morning after I cleaned up the mess.
