Pigeon Talk

That's quick. There's no chance of avoiding that. Why can't they just eat wild rabbits and pigeons and not our pets. :(

Yea those babies weren’t very old. The adults definitely knew it beforehand, as they started scurrying away before it comes into view, but the babies had no chance. :(

She is very cute! How do you deal with the poop problem?
Can they be paper trained?

Mine is mostly paper trained, and required very little persuasion to be so. However, rather than associating paper with going, she just knows to go to one perch which is above newspaper.

I have not picked up a dropping away from under that spot now in about a week. I posted before, she doesn't like to go in her cage unless she has to either and will choose to fly to the perch above the newspapers.

Except for the current feather explosion, which is the result of her molt, she isn't any messier to have in the house than a dog.

I think that predator attacks are inevitable unless you confine your birds to a safe, secure enclosure. The takeaway I cam getting from reading on this forum is that free range birds will get eaten, it's just a matter of time. It has really put me off the idea of ever doing so if I had chickens or ducks (or outside pigeons)!

Kinda looks like what we call ‘star gazing’ in chicks. Such a pretty girl.

I definitely ordered 10s this time, because that’s what the site recommended for Oriental Frills. It does look huge for such small birds, but with the way their foot is, and with the feathers, I think it will be fine, I don’t think they could get it off, but it won’t be tight. Would being too loose cause any problems?

Yay!! Will be interesting to see how much faster these guys grow compared to the chicks that hatched recently. :)

Being to large wont cause any probs. But tight would ;) I forgot about the feather feet. They will prob be perfect!

Oh. I also read your interview. It's really good! Are the pigeons at your house, or cabin?

The food looks more or less undigested. Is there anything I can give her that she's not liable to throw up? I softened one pellet in water and let her swallow it yesterday just to see if it would come up too since they break down so quickly and it came up too.

Thanks! The only thing left at my cabin is one lone surviving Swedish duck. I’m planning to take a friend to be with him very soon.
The 2 chicken flocks I had there have been sold or brought back to my house, so everything is at home now.

I’m so sorry. I don’t know what to suggest, surely someone who follows this thread will.
I’ll also tag @casportpony for her thoughts. Pyxis is probably asleep right now.
