Pigeon Talk

Alright yall. How long do your racers stay out for? There of mine took off this morning, and went so high, circling. I then lost track of them. this was at 10:30. It is now 2:45. I'm Thinking I'm not gonna get them back but idk.

I lost a white homer hen this morning also. :( it was just dead on the ground. I have no clue what caused it.

Mine normally go out for about an hour or so. They spend about 20-30 min flying the rest is walking around lolling for extra nest material! I've had one of my youngsters that have only just started going out suddenly fly off. I thought I had lost him but he returned after two days looking tired and hungry but uninjured. I've had others go AWOL like this before the longest they stayed away was three days. I've not had any return longer than that.
I'm sorry about your white homer. Do you know why it died?

Ok Thanks.

No I dont. :( it was healthy, active and alert yesterday. I'm watching the rest of the flock closely now.

On your racers flying high,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, my thought is ,,,, they have some HIGH FLYER in their GENETICS. If you research High flyers,,, you will come up with some amazing long times in the air. BTW High Flyers do not have very good homing skills. They are trained similar to rollers.
Of course loft flying, they should find their way home.

On your lost hen:hit sorry to hear this,,,,,,,,,,,,, but sometimes they expire from natural causes:idunno. Not all things are disease, or predator related.

Yes, it is possible they have high flyer in them, but it's unlikely. These are birds from the president of my local racing club, and he is very successful. So I think they are pure, but you never know.

About the hen, yes, I think it may have been natural causes. She was only two years old though... :hmm
