This is what mine mostly do, the cockbird delivers the material to the hen and she places it in position to make the nest.
No I mean he picks it up, drops it, repeat until she gets up, walks over, takes it, flies back to put it in nest herself. Rowan is comically bad at being a provider. It is a good thing he's not in the wild.
 
those are super cute! Did they hatch on their own, or did you have to assist any of them?

I assisted all of them. One almost hatched unassisted, zipped all the way around breaking the shell, but didn’t fully break the membrane. I just had to pop her out. After that, I was a little more aggressive assisting. I think I’ve only had 1 call duckling hatch for me without assistance. My girls hatch them well though!

What is it about calls that they not hatch easy?
