Crowing
Maybe. They're just perfectly white and pretty, so I keep them in a bag in a drawer. Thinking maybe one day I'll think of something to do with them.

all of mine are molting also. they look funny!Olive started another molt. Amazing how sudden it comes on, and how many feathers one bird can drop! But she seems to get through it really fast, she's already got new quills all over her head and neck. I've got about a dozen nice big wing feathers saved between this and her spring molt.
Do you vary/change the direction of your release??? north, south east west, of your loft.Forgot to say... homers did a 4 mile toss yesterday! All made it back, within 10 minutes or so. today will be a 5-6 miles. they seem to enjoy it.
Since theyre white you could dye them any color you want. I keep interesting feathers I find and chuck them in the freezer to disinfect. I sometimes just use them as an accent piece for bouquets and flowers. Wing feathers look great in old jars on desks. You might be able to get some ideas in the Hobbies threadMaybe. I see no moltDidn't take long for the Coopers' to test the new aviary. Yesterday I watched a juvenile come in low and fast and slam into the wall, it didn't try it again.
Just a few minutes ago I scared off an adult which was walking around on the roof trying to find an entry point. I think once they figure out they have no way to access them they'll give up. It startled them into a huddle but it made a nice photo.View attachment 1910764 As you can see, mine are all heavy in molt as well.
right now, I have only been going north and west of the loft. this is where my family travels the most, so for now, that's where they will be trained. when I get out to 30 miles, I will swap directions.Do you vary/change the direction of your release??? north, south east west, of your loft.

if you look at the 2 black checks, on their heads, you can see whitish colored spots, this is where some feathers have been lost. I will try to get a picture of my molting birds tonight. when are you getting pigeons? you need some!I see no moltpretty birds though!!
Correct, if the picture was better you'd be able to see the feathers coming in on their heads.my goodness qwerty. your hawks are crazy there. it sure does take the fun out of flying birds. I didn't know you had a blue check, and a pretty blue check it is.

That check and its nestmate are my two youngest birds. I'll have to take a more recent photo of them together, this was in July.View attachment 1911004 They both have the white spot above their tails and white ankles.
