Pigeon Talk

Just stop qouting it, then we will be good!
HaHa!

Sorry i didnt see those coler charts, the device im on is weird and doesnt show links sometimes. Not sure why. But i just get on a laptop.

@biophiliac no, those arent quite it. Its medpet 4 in 1 tabs for pigeon use only. It treats canker, e. coli, paratyphoid and coccidiosis. Its also supposed to help intestinal tract and diarhea. Now, if only another bird would get sick... lol.
Ok, thanks. This one is also supposed to treat all 4 of those conditions. I don't usually like to use combination remedies but I just would like to treat one bird - my cute little runt #744. He seems ok overall but his poop is an odd green color I have no idea why.

Hmm im not sure why its green. I like the 4 in 1 because its good to use when you dont know what it has (which is me all the time!). But i agree, treating for four in one pill prob isnt best for the bird.

I found the Medvet one and I'll get that since you had good result w/it. I'm sure I'll feel better having it on hand jic.

I guess you don't get Harkers in the US? http://www.harkersonline.co.uk/
They do a whole range of meds for pigeons. This is the 4in1 I have. You would have to be really unlucky to need to treat for all four at the same time! It is safe to treat for one thing with out treating for the other things and just add to water for several days, job done!

@biophiliac if you want a holiday avatar can you just Google an image and download/borrow it?

Yes, it turns out we do get Harker's here, online. I decided to learn a bit more about these combo meds as they can be useful when a firm diagnosis cannot be made or the ideal remedy is not available. I found out that the Avio 4in1 and the Medpet 4in1 are virtually identical containing Furaltadone 20% and Ronidazole 10%(or 7% for Medvet).
Both are said to treat coccidia, canker, paratyphoid(salmonella) and E-coli.

The Harker's 4in1 treats coccidia, canker, worms and external parasites...so a different 4 conditions. It contains Amprolium Hydrochloride, Ronidazole and Ivermectin. (this product won 'Best Bird Product at a recent trade show, according to their site)
I also looked at Harker's 3in 1 product which treats coccidia, canker and worms. (I believe I would prefer the 3/1 as I would rather treat external parasites...well, externally, and there should be no doubt about the diagnosis in this condition,:sick) It contains Ronidazole also and 2 other active ingredients that differ betw the liquid and the tablet version.

So depending on which 4 conditions are suspected one can decide which to use I guess...
Sorryfor the long boring post Don't know if this helps anybody else, but I needed to write it down to get it straight in my mind.:lau
