OK you fantail lovers!

I'm way behind here on this thread . . but
O.M.G.
I have decided I am in love with the fan tails
Does anyone here keep these?
Would care and maintenance be any different than any other pigeon?
Am I insane for thinking maybe a pair of these could live harmoniously in my call duck palace with a few modifications?
Are they insanely priced?
I'm going to search Craig's list right now to see if there is any for sale in my area

So the closest person on cl is 3 hours away. Prices not bad. . anywhere from15-25 dollars

Keep checking CL and some closer may come up. Especially now that Spring is around the corner. Many fanciers start breeding soon and then more are available.

I just jumped over to CL and here is what is available in my area.

Of course the fantails are not what I would want.
Found these whites that would suit me just right.
Priced Really LOW. Beautiful birdies
I'm just not ready for any at the moment.

Somebody had white fantails for sale in my area, but I didn't go for them. The ad is still up, so they might still have them.

I wonder if one of the sources on cl would ship hatching eggs. I could hatch some in my incubator couldn't I?

How do you tell if your getting a male and a female?
I'm assuming it's ok to just keep a pair right?
If I ended up with 2 males or 2 females would that be ok? Of course I wouldn't have babies then I know that much. .

But are they happy as long as they have company or does it have to be a male/female pair?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm in the I'm totally getting serious mode about this

Well, pigeons are artificial so parent care is best. Although you could hand raise with kaytee excact. It's lots of work though. And a male female pair is great. They will raise they're young all the way! You should get some. Go with Indian fantails, not American fantails. Indian ones are prettier
