Pigeon Talk

Nice aviary and birds! Is there just dirt on the floor in there?

These two are 24 days old today

Looking good. It would appear your birds carry the "dirty" gene (note the black skin on the legs).
As far as my aviary, it is actually grass in there (they have direct access to it). I just get in there with the weed whacker to cut it when I mow the lawn (wish my neighbor would trim that hedge in the corner haha).

Alright everyone. I need help. So if was feeding my birds when I saw a bunch of insects in the grain. They appear to be eating it. Is there anyway to get rid of these things that does not involve throwing out 100 or so pounds of grain? I don't know how they got in it, I wonder if one of the bags had some in it, and they spread like wildfire to the corn, milo, wheat, and pigeon mix?

If you can find a freezer large enough, I believe 24 hours could do it. Sorry I don't have a better idea!

Great, that's what I wondered. Would that kill the eggs do you Think? And yes, we do have a freezer big enough. :)
Go a bit longer as suggested by @Old_Strain_Lover to be sure.

Umm... roughly 35-40. Need to cut back more
Nice mix of colors in your flock and a comfortable aviary.:love

Yeah freezing is a good idea, but I seem to remember hearing longer than 24 hours. I would leave it in for a few days at least;)
I think you are correct.:thumbsup
