Pigeons spend tons of time on the ground and from what I gather cock pigeons can be awfully cantankerous... and might harass quails in a footprint that small, quails will also eat babies that fall from nests. I wouldn't think quails would be a good idea either.

I don't have quail,,,, but its just my thinking to keep different birds separated. Sometimes issues with parasites, and viral , or bacterial infections, can complicate treatments. @Hokum Coco posted on one of these pigeon threads, (forgot which) not to keep pigeons and chickens together. Same building/barn is OK, but not adjacent cages.

I do keep everything else seperated but i didnt realize pigeons would spend any time on the ground and i know its common practice with other exotic birds who spend no time on the ground. I wont do it though glad it was squished early! Thanks again! Yall have a g'nite!

Uh oh! We got a live one! Didn't take long to get hubby into pigeons! Do you know what type he wants or just any pigeons cos there so Awesome!

So we get these pallets from his job. Its really cool theyre from handicapped bicycles donated to less fortunate children suposed to get 6 more this is two put together

I was thinkn if we took one of these things and turned it long ways up? Would that make a nice pigeon loft? Add a nest shelf? I could keep some button quail in the bottom to clean up extra feed right? Id like to keep it on the geound not lift it w a wire bottom but would lifting it be recommended?

They would work as a frame. But as with any enclosure build it bigger than you think you need because it will soon fill up! And a walk in type is definitely a must!

She's just had some breakfast. I'll release her in about an hour. I'll let her go from my garden, not that I want her to return, but if she isn't fit enough to return she knows where to come back if she needs. She's been in a cage in my garage for the past couple of days and sure looks ready to go!

I've just released her. I put the cage on my garden table and opened the door. She flew out and sat on my roof for several minutes then took off heading immediately north. I messaged the guy to let him know so hopefully she will make a swift return to him. She should cover 240 miles in about 4-5 hrs.

I just checked and there is a 19.4mph North Easterly wind to help her on her way.
