Pigeon Talk

Racers had a loft fly today. They did great! Went a little higher and farther than they ever have. Soon when they have been out a few more times, I'm gonna add some older birds with them. Right now, they are still sqeakers so the old birds would bring them out to far.

Do you just fly your older birds separately,,, different time?
here's the deal... I used to fly the older birds daily, but then we got an replacement coop ten feet away. So then I flew the never flown ones out of the new coop, while the older ones are still getting used to the new loft. My plan is to fly old birds with the young ones one by one, so because if I did them all, it might be a long day of netting pigeons... Make sense?

Is you old loft still there? do you think your older birds would insist on going there? If they did, easypeezy, just relocate them manually.
I don't think pigeons are like bees. If you move a beehive more than 3 feet, the bees cant find it. With bees it is understandable, since they can find their hive among dozens others in same area.

parts of it still are! :p but the trap is still there, so it may be best to fly them now, and see. I will do that tommorrow. :thumbsup thanks.

Yay! the second egg! Congrats.

I will candle them in 4 days and see if there are any veins!

They both sit on them now, but Olive sits more. Rosie, or Mr. Rose as I've jokingly been calling him to slightly improve his (probably) misgendered name, comes in and sometimes sits for just a few minutes. But it seems to be at Olive's choice to sit more - she just gets up, eats/drinks, and then takes her place on the eggs again, moving him to the side.

That there are just 2 eggs in 3 days and not 3 or 4 proves it's just Olive laying and makes him being a hen more unlikely.
