It's a homer... one of my Trentons. It's a throwback that pops up every now and then. They sometimes also throw booted birds. Also, it's a black pigeon and if you notice the light colored beak, it's because it's a slate (smoky). It's a very common trait in the Trentons... they used to call them wax beaks.
 
Hey guys I need some advice ASAP please. I was just sitting and petting my squab (that I posted earlier) in order to get him handtame. I believe he has imprinted on me as well as his actual parents because he tries to get food from my hands. he is about 3 weeks. I was sitting with him and he decided to jump out of my lap onto the ground, he is now just kind of wandering around on our porch area. Does this mean he has fledged? Should I put him back in the nest or just let him wander around in the aviary for the day with Mom and Dad?

Edit: he is walking around on the aviary ground with Mom and Dad and they are feeding him.

Very nice! I'd love to see the crest gene pop up in my flock but it seems uncommon in homers.

If he were mine I'd return him to his nest and let him fledge from there. If he's ready he will pop out again.

I didnt know trentons threw crest! Have you bred crest to crest? Do they produce more crested birds?

if you ever have any extra crested or booted birds, let me know ;)

also, if you get a chance, I would love to see more of your setup and birds.
