Pigeon Talk

It will be interesting to add pigeons to the mix here. My chickens seem to have a very low tolerance for hawks. Most of the locals have learned not to attempt landing here. Would be fun to watch a hawk land on a pigeon loft.

I don't think it would be fun :idunno I think it was @Qwerty3159 that had hawks landing on top of his loft. Don't quite recall him enjoying those instances.
I had hawks take chickens from my flock.

This was last November. Usually it doesn't take long for them to realize they can't catch the birds inside but this one was very persistent. You can see in the pic that the two in front actually seemed pretty relaxed given the hawks proximity but that's simply because they got used to him peering down at them through the roof.

What?? When? What happened? Poor bird
no, I'm sorry! It is fine, just keeping its leg nice and toasty!
Not really. Bird in last pic is standing on one leg - other leg just not visible.
don't worry, it has already grown back. :thumbsup

@memphis ,,, you will find this funny.

I was out flying my hand fed baby, he was doing really good, enjoying his time out, when, all of sudden, about every 5 seconds a feather fell out, and then he started flying fast! Once he went up against the blue sky, I saw something... A humming birds was chasing the poor thing, and pulling feathers out! He must have flown by a nest.. But I whistled and he was coming to land, but the humming bird didn't see me and whizzed within a foot of me! Hah. Poor little pigeon went and hid in some brush. Then the humming bird left and he came when called.

I also got the one last bird back. She is fine, but the hawk did puncture right along her keel, so she is black and blue. But, she was happy to see me! I came out at about 6 this morning, and she was walking acting like nothing happened. I opened the door and she just waddled right in. Haha.
