Pigeon Talk

You can see the ears on this one. Clearly a pigeon bat hybrid. Clear sign that bats are getting into your loft. :D
lol!
I do need to check it out more closely. It's still being fed by the parents, chest is still dirty, but it might also be getting picked on too. I'll have to watch it.

Typical teenagers. 🤣

Unfortunately I don't really have a great guess as to what gene or genes are at play here.

White flights certainly, some kind of pied, but those wing bars? I really want to say toy stencil, which I know is a complex of several (recessive I think) genes. Toy stencil 1 by itself might do something like this with the wing bars?

But I really don't know.

I still have my indoor pigeons. Olive (german owl) for ~7 years, Skittles for 4 now. They live in a spacious sun room that is big enough to fly around, but spend most of their time in their nest in a large open bird cage, sitting on eggs that will never hatch because they're both girls.

They are very beautiful, but keep to themselves for the most part. It has been a very long time (almost 6 years) since Olive let me pet her. Her temperament changed when she started to lay eggs. I still enjoy for her what she is.

Skittles is a pomeranian pouter that doesn't blow her crop like the breed standard. She did it a little before she was a year old and never again since. She has a nicer "pet" temperament than Olive. By which I mean, she doesn't bite if I pet her! But she isn't very attached to me either.

Nice to see you back on . I was considering tagging you when peeps had indoor pigeon questions. But I seen that you were AWAL for a stretch of time.
What happened to your original pigeon,, the one in your Avatar?? And, do you still keep Quaker Parrots?

Welcome Back,,, Nice to see you again. :highfive:

Olive is the pigeon in my avatar. I have had her a long time. I don't have quakers, I raised a baby one I found in the wild and gave him to someone with others of his own species when he was growing older, before 2020. I do have other parrots these days. All small species.
