Fantails can at times be tough to breed. Sometimes you have to trim the vent feathers on both cock and hen and also trim the first 5 tail feathers on both sides as well so the cock bird can tred the hen.
Sometimes no matter how hard the cock bird drives the hen, she won't co-operate, especially if she is an older hen and used to another mate. I have even had some hens beat up the cock bird because she didn't want him, and I had to isolate the pair until she accepted him.
AS to looking for shows, The NPA website should have a list of shows, if not do a web search for Pigeon clubs in your area and see if they have one coming up.
