the only person i had a prob with in the po was my postmaster she was really evil!!! everyone else was like OMG!!! yes i will call and u call and we'll meet in the middle and kept telling me they were so sorry ect. i've been thinking about fileing a complaint on her but don't know how to go about it.

by the looks of it come spring i may have piggies to sell, lol. there is a few sale forums though i sell eggs and birds for poultry also.

yes byc is a giant family here and we all love our birds. it is a great community here with lots of online family and friends and a great souce for info and u will love it here!!

i thought things had been going weird also and at first thought it was just me but i see alot of people have vanished too and realized it was not just my imagination. i haven't seen any bashing there?? not sure what's up with that.

I have to agree that with almost 19000 members on here I have found everybody to be most helpful and friendly, mostly non-political group I have joined. I have raised pigeons for many years now and just recently decided to see about trying my luck at raising some chickens, mostly for egg now.

What really piqued my interest in chickens was the fact that near the gas station where I usually stop, one day I heard a rooster crowing. I looked across the street and sure enough somebody had a beautiful RIR roo and a couple of hens in their backyard.

So I started a web search on chickens and landed here. I have ordered catalogues from most of the hatcheries, which of course has only added fuel to my desire. I found out from our local animal control officers that we are allowed 4 noncrowing birds and 1 crowing bird. I will start with a few hens and then maybe think about getting a roo.

By the way if you get the chance and have the time join us in the chat, it can be alot of fun at times.

Keep your Piggies Flying!

I raise 4 different things OEGB Chickens love these, Shield Owls and White Fantails, Ringneck Doves in 5 Different colors and Dwarf Rabbits.

I love Breeding and raiseing these animals and spend alot of time working with them.
I dislike the winter months because all the breeding stops and theres not alot to do but wait on spring

FR,
i have to agree 100% about this forum, lol that's why it is kinda my home away from home i have alot of online friends and family here as do many people. it's really awesome to see so many get along here everyone does a great job.

i got hooked on cockatiels then chickens now pigeons, lol. it all started with 1 dang naked neck LF turken at a feedstore for me but i grew up with chickens also. i went to a feedstore i think to check for cockatiel seed in bulk if i remember right and they had peeps that day from mcmurray hatchery. i asked if i could hold one had been years since i saw a pp,lol. she said yeah but watch there is something wrong with one of them, i said oh ok.

so i went to the box again and was amased at the assortment some i knew breeds some i didn't. i picked up a black turken it was so ugly it was adorable, i was in love. well she came over and i said i don't see anything wrong with any none had spraddle leg. she said the turken was sick it's feathers had fallen out and she was debateing on killing it and was worried the others could get it. i flipped i said it is a rare TURKEN(here they r rare, lol)!!! i told her she was nuts and it was suppost to be that way, she said it was the uggliest thing she ever saw and if someone didn't get it soon she was culling it cuz she didn't think anyone would by the rest with it there. needless to say her and i went rounds and i educated her some, lol i left with the turken, a EE, 2 partridge rocks and a silver laced whyndotte and so the poultry addiction began for us, rotfl. everytime i saw her working after that i let her know how big my turken got and how GORGOUS she turned out to be and thanked her for not killing her. i think i po'ed the woman and made her want to

thinking about it but i was mad, lol.

it took me awhile to find byc but i found the other byc first before here. i thought this one was to complex and hated it but i came here now and then to read took me along time here before i was here alot and learned how to use the site. now i never go on the other one to much i don't care for yuku since the upgrade.

i used to be in chat all the time on both. i was on there not to long ago but opened pics to much and it blew my modens, lol. i haven't been in since but will try when i can, if i don't see ya in there just pm me t chat piggies.

oh!! onyx laid her second egg today so i got 2 pairs now on 2 eggs ea nest!!!
wee.gif
the new birds looked like male and female in pics and kinda look like a pair now but also look like 2 females. wwhen i checked pelvic bones i lean more towards a pair still but not 100% sure so i will have to wait till they r older to figure it out they r smaller than the others so i assume they r younger also. i hope they r a pair cause the others r bonded now.

harm,
i have hatched oeg's and oegb's from show eggs i collect during working for show weeks here but have not kept any yet. they r very beautiful though and have thought about it. i have an egg due 3 days after turkey day it is a oegb x serama so i'm excited to see if it hatches what it is and looks like. i don't raise mixes but it would be fine in my mixed pen for the kid's for a pet. i'm curious to see what a serama mix is,lol. mabe by next spring i'll have ya hooked on seramas so i can send ya eggies.

i could sit all day looking at pics of ur birds they r all gorgous babies!
love.gif
my byc page and siggy should have most what i raise listed. my rabbits r different breeds holland lops, dutch, angora, rex. i also have a akc pug puppy- misty rose and a ckc minpin savanah. lots of critters here to spoil as well, lol. i agree with winter i hate not getting eggs or babies from the girls and i can't garden. not gardening is what gives me the blues most though but the other is a nice break since we hatch most of the year and do shows it is much needed break.

I work hard keeping things just so in my flock thats why my birds are so happy

If i have a contrary bird out he goes i don't like confusion in my flock. My roosters are compatible with their hens and they don't over mount thats another thing that will get you the boot here.
I feel a calm well managed enviroment gives you well adjusted birds that are friendly and less flighty. I just removed a bird today who i haven't had that long causeing a ruckus in my pigeons he was given his walking papers and will be sold.
I'm just thrilled over your pigeons
ya.gif
i hope all your eggs hatch and they do well raiseing their babies.
OH

My Diamonds now have and egg and i expect another tomarrow and i been good and have not touched them i saw it when she got off to eat.
Heres hopeing we both do good
fl.gif
But if they abandon the nest again i'm going to sell them. The other pair still act like strangers it is a pair but the female is just a little on the duh side.

i totaly agree. i don't like confusion in my flocks either i'm very strict with things haveing to be just so or something has to be done to fix it and i'm not happy till it is,lol.

hmm.. if they abandone again i'd seperate the pair and put them in with other mates and try that first it mabe something genetic is wrong with the eggs and they know that but u don't. paired to someone else they maybe just fine. it also could be they r new parents also so being immature. usually any hen does not kick an egg unless she feels something is wrong with it.

my pigeons r new and i have touched their eggs and no probs mabe like 3 times a piece now. once was checking for egg 1 and then egg 2 and then when i cleaned the lofts yesterday. granted anyone else even tries to just pet them with me feeding them and they get wing slapped or the second parent guards them. they do not do that with me at all i guess cause i am who always feeds and waters them and i'm who held them every day since here up till i thought they should start to lay posibaly. now i just talk to them so they know it is me and i pet their backs once a day so they know they have privacy but yet still know me as mom if that makes sence. i won't let anyone else in the cages now as i see they want noone else but me there. so mine r doing good so far constant sitting on both nests now.

congrats!!! i know every egg is like finding a golden egg to me, rotfl! i can't wait to see mine and ur babies!!!
jumpy.gif
we'll both be in heaven with winter babies to spoil, rotfl.

for the duh chick can u put her with a new mate? mabe she is younger and doesn't know what to do yet? i have had teils do that and had to change the mate to older ones to get the ball rolling. that way the older male already knows what to do and teaches the younger duh one. usually that works to fix that prob. what one r u parting with to sell?

ep.gif
u just had to show me something i've never seen before!! what r those magnificint beauties???

They are Nicobar pigeons, which are a type of wild pigeon. You usually only see them in some zoos and a few private breeders in the USA. We have a small breeding group. They are not like normal pigeons- and are quite expensive. I am looking for another female Nicobar, as I have a spare male to pair up.

We do raise domestic pigeons too- Homers (mainly pure white for weddings), a few fantials and some pheasant pigeons.

I don't have photos of the pigeons and doves on the website yet. We have alot more than listed on our website- but have not had much time to update the site lately.
