LOl baby pigeons are so homely they are cute. I just weanrd a baby pigeon I got at a swap a few weeks ago. (white Homer)
In with 20 or so adults and beaten bloody, no feathers just the startngs of its pins. I was very angry to say the least.

She is now weaned and still baby enough to force her beak into my fingers for food. its very endearing.

Best mix for babys I have found is:
1 part game starter( non medicated)
1 part wild bird seed
6 o 8 pieces of kitten chow
put in a coffee grinder and grind to a fine powder, mix with warm water and srynge feed.

Keep in mind pigeons like other baby birds have to have high protein for feather developement.
if the feathers start coming in looking tattered and raggy add more protein.

I have hand raised many baby pigeons ove rthe years , but I usually allow the parents to take care of them unless there is an issue like with little Squabbling( her name lol )

There is a pigeon pellet you can buy, to hand feed Squeakers. The parents will do all the feeding.

Little info Squab are pigeon for the table( Meat birds).

Squeakers are babies of homers and other breeds.

Dont feed crack corn to pigeons, asking for trouble like canker. Whole grain mixs, or pigeon pellets. Proper feed

Sometime with first set of eggs only one or none are fertile. Think she may lay before mating. The frillback sometimes may need vent feathers trimmed.

Breeds like fantail, need tail feathers trimmed.
Long legg feathers like the trumpters need trimmed.
Jacobins need trimmed so they can see to breed.

2nd largest pigeon show in the nation. All birds showed are that years hatch. Used to go every year, took 3rd with a indian fantail years ago,750 birds in his class.

You will see soo many breeds, people from most states will be there.

it has been almost 3 hours and no progress yet. mom and dad r doing great with both on nest but mom is actually the one on the eggs. i'll keep u posted how they do!!!

the first egg has 2 pips one above the other wich i thought was weird u can see it is in the air cell. the other should hatch behind cause they started sitting on this one first and second one was laid 2 days later. i will not be feeding the squeakers unless something goes wrong i'd rather mom and dad take care of them. they r so in love and bonded i want them to raise their family.
