is it ok to house a pair of pigeons in a large coop with a couple hens? i would give the pigeons a platform for them to rest on and eat on away from the chickens. do pieons and chickens interact with each other or do they genrally just keep to themselves? should i give the pigeons their own nest boxes up high away from the chickens or can they share? Should the pigeons have their own perch up high? Ive heard that you can put a brick in for them to roost on, is this true or is better to just give them a pole?

I have pigeons living with my chickens and they do great..

I have large cochins and bantam in there.

I have a 2 x 4 hanging for a roost and they love it...

walk and even breed on the roost LOL

Yes you can house them together as long as the pigeons have a place to get away from the chickens. I have a pair of mookies and they are living with a australorp hen and a buckeye pullet and the the male will chase that buckeye around if she gets to close to their nest.

We have a 16x20 pigeon loft (racing pigeons) and have chickens under the loft. They do great together.

I just moved three newly adopted pigeons into my coop and everybody is doing wonderful. Everybody respects each others' space and the pigeons fly up to their perches if they feel uncomfortable on the ground with the chickens. They drink from the chickens' waterer, peck around the ground for goodies with the chickens and everybody is cool with that.
