Pigeons need help please

With my new doves im having a problem witch has confused me they dont want to leave there cage they just wont get out any ideas thanks
Soon you will have them flying to you as soon as you enter the loft.
That is how it is for most of my birds not all some just stay on the floor and wait for spillage (the birds at the lower end of the pecking order.)

Take it from some one who knows first hand you will not believe how small of an opening a weasel can get through (1½ x½") and one attack and you are wiped out (at least in my case)

Chicken wire is only something to make you wish you had bought "HARDWARE CLOTH" especially where predators are concerned.

Sadly you are not the first to make that mistake and definitely you will not be the last.

Thanks so much i got another question so what should i do or start doing so they come to me and fly around me should i leave alot of food in there coot or not?

So sorry for you... I know exactly how that feels.

I lost 14 birds.. nearly my entire flock, to a mongoose.... no matter what I did.. it still got into the coop...

first through a gap in the door.. then through the mesh by digging under it.. and then it actually chewed through the metal mesh.

Finally, after I re wired the lot and put concrete around the base.. it then got in by chewing and ripping through the roof!!!!

I had to knock down the old coop and pay someone to come and make me a metal one. That mongoose cost me a lot of time and money.

But they are just doing it to get food and survive. I hope you take steps to predator proof you coop... the fox will come back if it knows there are tasty plump pigeons on the menu.

Ive taken the food out there coot and ill start feeding them only when im with them so they get the hang of it to remember me what do you think?

Yes.. you have been given great advise.

Feeding only 2 x a day is the best.. and take out the feed about 10 - 15 mins.. then there is no feed left about to encourage mice and rats.

As for the peanuts... if they have never had them before they will be a bit reluctant to try them.. but one will in the end.. and he will love them so much.. then the other will see that he is enjoying them.. and have a taste themselves.. then they are hooked! They are just like pigeon chocolate... and they cant get enough of them in the end... you can use them to train you birds and also get them super friendly.

Try mixing a few in with their seed mix.

I got a question my doves have not stop been mating for 2 weeks but no eggs lol im clueless any advice

In a perfect world.
Expect eggs about 10 days after you see them copulate.
First time parents do not follow this time frame to the letter; Also are more likely to be successful in raising their second clutch of eggs just so you are not too devastated if things do not go exactly as you are hoping.

Believe it or not it is possible they are of the same gender.
Where there are no eggs I am thinking two males it also happens with the opposite sex as well (if you see 4 eggs in the nest you know you have lesbians.)
My best guess is likely they are young birds and the hen has not reached full development yet
Males mature quicker (about 4 months of age) females start egg production at about 6 months of age as a rule of thumb and you may have a female that is a late bloomer.

On the upside your male will probably know what he is doing when your female is ready to lay and you have a better chance of having squabs.
