if your property is fenced then I'd say they should know where home is by now. make sure to keep food and water right close to their coop so they have to come back to it to eat.
 
Hello! I am considering getting a pilgrim gosling but have a few questions... Currently, we have two almost 7 week old Pekins. We just adore them! I now have a waterfowl addiction it seems and would love to add a pilgrim gosling. Here are my questions... We have an enclosed pen that is 15×12 with a 4×4 house inside the pen. I was wondering if this would provide enough room for the ducks and goose? They will free range at least an hour a day if not more... Will they get along in order to pen them together? We only want to get 1 gosling... Would this be a problem? What sex would be the best in this situation? I'm really hoping this will work because from what I read pilgrims are very docile and sweet! We have someone breeding them who is local and it's possible we could get one as early as this Tuesday! Please let me know what you think... It's important that all my birds are happy and if this isn't ideal that I would rather not do this. Thank you for any advice or input in advance! :)
 
My geese hatched 3 beautiful goslings and I am very happy because she is only 1 year old! Today the gander attack one of them very badly and I don't know why that happened? After they hatched I let them all together with the goose and the gander. Should I separate them? Please help

I don't understand that behavior in a gander usually they are very protective of their goslings same as the mother. I think for their safety I would remove them till they are older say 3 weeks then start introducing again slowly and see how he acts. I didn't give my last year gosling to the adults till they were 3 weeks old but each day from day 2 they got to see and visit with the gosling with me being there. By 3 weeks the gosling were sturdy enough to be with the adults and keep up.

For one thing I hope you know you won't be able to put a very young gosling in with 7 week old Pekins they would most likely see it as an intruder and attack it. But if you introduce slowly over several weeks maybe longer they will eventually accept it ,it does take time and your ducks are huge now compared to a gosling. I have to rec you get 2 goslings though they will be much happier if they have one of their own. Do you know sex of your 2 Pekins? because if you have a drake or 2 drakes they will mate you gosling if a female and I mean mate her alot. which can cause injury and stress. If you have a male and female Pekins or 2 females and you get a gander he will mate with your female duck[ I can vouch for it since I had this here.]a gander mating with large ducks like Pekin or Muscovy is not harmful. Pilgrims do have a reputation for being docile so it is a nice breed to have. Ideal situation would be to have all girls ducks and goose or Girl ducks and gander or 1 drake and 1 duck and goose. 2 drakes and 1 female goose will not be good.

[/quote we know for sure we have a female as she's been quacking for a few weeks now. I suspect the other is a male but don't have any evidence yet. It's still peeping. No curled tail feather... I did realize it would take some time for them to get to know eachother perhaps through a hardware cloth fence. By the time the gosling was ready to come outside permently maybe 6 or 7 weeks it would be close in size if they have a similar growth rate as pekins. I am raising them simply as pets and have plenty of time to devote to them. Thank you for your advice!
