So I have two pilgrims that I hatched myself. A male and a female. They hatched mid may 2021 And haven’t yet started laying. They are stereotypical pilgrims. The gander has been mating with our white layer duck ever since she reach maturity as she was a month older than the other ducks. No injuries no problem.

yesterday I saw the female pilgrim mating with the white layer and I SWEAR I saw a Weiner…. What the crap?! Is that a thing? I’ve heard of ducks changing sex…. We have the two geese, one female white layer, 6 welsh harlequin hens and 1 WH Drake.

If she was any other kind of goose Id just be like, "oh well" and not even have brought it up. But she's a pilgrim (auto sexing, thats why I included the baby pics of them), double lobes and has had a more female nature between the two, nesting and such.

I'm floored - if you saw the "part", there's no mistaking it..and makes me think the seller wasn't honest about the breed. A "Pilgrim" goose that is actually a gander really isn't a Pilgrim at all. 🙁

Your goose doesn't seem to have much white (if any) on her face - my guess is that the seller may be selling crossbred/mixed geese, rather than purebred Pilgrims.

It is most likely a dominance thing and not a sex change. I have a turkey hen that mounts everything including my tom, my drakes and my gander, She does this cause she is just a big meany.

Turned out that I got scammed and it was a Toulouse gander.

Just picked up eggs in person from a reputable well known breeder of Cotton Patch sooooooo wish me luck 🍀
